This section is for members of the association between the ages of 11 to 15. Scouts work as members of a “Patrol”, which is ideally made up of six to eight Scouts, within a “Troop” which would have four to six Patrols. A Scout troop operates under the guidance of the Scout Leaders.

As Patrols the focus of activities Scouts participate in deal mainly with the outdoors. During the course of the year the troop would go on weekend activities such as day long or overnight hikes, weekend camps either staying in tents or in Scout Centres (like Mount Melleray) and on these activities they could undertake smaller tasks such as backwoods cooking (cooking on an open fire), pioneering projects (like bridge building) and playing games. Troops also meet once a week where they would learn and practice the skills necessary for the weekend activities as well as play games and other fun activities. Although leaders are there to run the programme the opportunity is there for members to take on responsibilities within the troop and recognition for this and other achievements is done through the “Badge work System”.

As a County troops meet several times a year for fun weekends, the County Challenge and the County MPC (Mountain Pursuit Challenge) and other occasions like the County Table Quiz and Swimming Gala.
