I arrived at 6:45pm, everyone else had already started setting up camp. There were lots of jobs to do but they where finished surprisingly quickly and the junior scouts (well most of them) helped a lot more so than some seniors. The weather was awful but everyone was in a buoyant mood that night, because there was a lot of activities to look forward to. I went to bed early.

The next morning it was still raining but even that didn’t dampen our spirits. The first thing we did was kayaking, When we were getting our wetsuits on it started to rain. When we got into the water we played Water Polo. Nobody could get at the ball for long and we didn’t get wet enough!

Next was surfing that was brilliant as the waves were “huge” and once when I did get a wave I was headed for Duirmuid and Larry who had to jump away. After Roswita gave us all hot chocolate.

Next we had the pedal boats, they were fantastic! First we raced, then people started to swap people around. Ash left Duirmuid on a little stud of wood sticking out of the water and then pedalled away.

Two not so good boys which for Mark Nugent and Sean Hinks sake I will not disclose names, were left on an island (for A while!). Mark Nugent thought it would nice to test the buoyancy of Ashley’s hat, which floated away, and started to fill with water. At the end and after a lot of thought and deliberation we collected the twosome who were trying at the time to jump into a boat 5 metres away.

We decided to go to the amusements but then just walked back to the racecourse because we got bored in about 2 minutes. At the racecourse we just relaxed and had dinner. That night we had a big game of corners and a bonfire. The Disco after was really good fun and you didn’t need to know how to dance to join in. Colin played some really good songs and of course Scissors Sisters’ Filthy Gorgeous. It was really late that night when we got to sleep.

The next morning the weather was great. We all had breakfast and wandered down to Splashworld, it was great to have a warm shower. We all played games, went on the slides, and the wave machine was great. After, we all got stuff from the shop and wandered back to the racecourse again. The rest of the day was spent cleaning and putting away things. There was a big cracker eating competition and after much effort Tom won. At 3o’clock we went home after a fun and enjoyable camp.
